L’Équipe report tonight that Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle with Rennes to sign young striker Mathys Tel, in what will be just short of a €30m deal, including bonuses. The 17-year-old will sign a five-year contract with the Bavarian club.
Bayern Munich will have ultimately been successful with their fourth offer to the Bretons, with the French youth international having been one of the Bundesliga side’s top priorities for this window, having been offered a place in the first-team squad.
Tel made just 7 appearances last year in Ligue 1, but has been considered one of the most promising forward talents in France. He also scored three goals in two French youth cup appearances this past campaign.
The Germans are said to consider him as technically and physically capable of leading the line in the future, and would offer him 20 games a season already, in rotation with Sadio Mané and Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, following the departure of Robert Lewandowski for Bayern Munich.

Les Rouge et Noir had previously turned down an opening offer of €17m before also rejecting subsequent €22.5m and €25m bids.
