As reported by RMC Aurélien Tchouaméni’s impending move to Real Madrid will land recently relegated Bordeaux a significant, and much needed, windfall.
The 22-year-old Monaco midfielder is expected to join Real Madrid for a total cost of as much as €116m including bonuses with an initial €80m price included with the player’s medical taking place in recent hours.
Monaco paid €20m for the French international from Bordeaux in 2020, a deal which included a 10% ‘added value’ sell-on clause, meaning that FCGB will receive at least €6m from this new transfer, or 10% of the €60m base value added between the two deals, and this figure could rise to €8m in total after bonuses.
However, say the outlet, the cash (as well as any similar resale clause from a potential Jules Koundé transfer) won’t arrive in time to help Bordeaux’s next audit from French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG, with the club €50m in debt after finishing bottom of Ligue 1 this season.
