UNFP President Piat advocates for 22-team Ligue 1 next season

Speaking on BeIN Sports, UNFP President Philippe Piat, the organisation that protects French footballers, professional and amateur, discussed the idea of abandoning the 2019/20 campaign altogether owing to the ongoing COVID-19 disruption and instead instituting a 22-team strong Ligue 1 for the 2020/21 campaign.

“We don’t know how this season is going to finish. In the hypothesis where we have to come to an end now, there will be injustices. To minimise those, next year, why not have a division with 22 clubs in it?”
