Former Marseille central midfielder and FC Porto player Giannelli Imbula has begun the procedure to represent Belgium as his national team of choice.
Imbula was born near Brussels and after months of charm offensives from the Belgian FA and specifically the national team boss Marc Wilmots, it is believed that Imbula and his entourage have given Belgium an oral agreement to play for them, with the objective being to play a part in EURO 2016, according to L’Équipe.
However, Imbula must first obtain Belgian nationality and then make his decision official. Will Deschamps attempt to hijack the player’s decision, much like he did when Nabil Fékir first chose to represent Algeria last year?
