As reported by L’Équipe, Montpellier are looking to keep hold of former Newcastle and Saint-Etienne midfielder Remy Cabella for next season after a brief spell at his former club having been allowed to leave Russian side Krasnodar following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Due to poor fitness at the start of his spell in April and injuries towards the end, Cabella was only able to make five Ligue 1 outings for the 2012 Champions this season. However, discussions are underway to make his stay a permanent one with a two-year deal being talked about between club and player – an option that was included in his initial contract with MHSC.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder, however, wants to take his time before he makes a final decision on his future and is interested in a new challenge overseas, in Italy in particular where he has seen some interest. A reported link to Olympiacos seems to have faded away, however, say the sports daily.
Also formerly of Marseille, Cabella won four France caps back in 2014.
