Mexican side Tigres UANL are reportedly confident of signing Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet (35) in a deal made possible by the likely departure of Florian Thauvin (29), according to El Futbolero.
Having brought in fellow Frenchmen Thauvin and André-Pierre Gignac (36), who both have the same representatives as Payet, the Mexican club are now “confident” of a deal to sign Payet.
Any deal would however be contingent on the departure of Thauvin, who has past issues with Payet. Thauvin’s departure would also be necessary in order to give the club the financial means to sign Payet, who would garner a high salary.
Payet scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season, as Marseille secured Champions League football next season.
