Lille poised to make €150m to €160m in player sales in the coming days – RMC

RMC Sport report tonight that Lille are poised to make €150m to €160m in player sales in the coming days, according to a business plan submitted to French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG, before COVID-19.

LOSC will have to submit a new plan to the control body in the coming days. The outlet claims that the sales of Victor Osimhen and Gabriel to Napoli are poised to earn the club more than €100m together, and that conversations to finalise both deals are now in the most advanced stages.

Zeki Celik, Boubakary Soumaré and Jonathan Ikoné are all highly sought after too, according to the outlet. LOSC will have to present their budget to the DNCG again in mid-July, as they did not pass the body’s fit and proper tests in their entirety with their initial submission, as confirmed by the DNCG today.

Although there has been interest in his services from the Italian market and despite the fact that OM are facing financial difficulty, Kamara wants to be part of André Villas-Boas’ team for 2020/21 as the club competes in the Champions’ League for the first time in seven years.

Gent attacker Jonathan David: “I want to play for Lille.”

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, 20-year-old Canadian international Jonathan David confirmed his desire to join Ligue 1 club Lille.

The player himself does not understand why the Belgian club are not allowing him to join Les Dogues, who have received a €25m bid from LOSC, who have offered the player a 5-year contract.

Can you confirm that you want to join Lille?

Yes, I want to come to Lille. I have had a very good season. For me, my next step, is Ligue 1. And the footballing project at Lille is fantastic. They are a very good team in France.

How is the Belgian club responding?

Talks are difficult. The club says they want to keep me. Or be ready to sell me for a price that I don’t think is realistic (at least €30m) when you take into account the COVID-19 situation. That is making negotiations complicated. In any case, I made it clear that I want to go to Lille. They said to me that they would not block me. At the start, things were going quicker. Now, everything has slowed. As if they are waiting for a better offer. I don’t know where that is supposed to come from.

Why Lille and not another club, in Germany for example?

The Lille project interests me. I already speak French. That will help during my adaptation period. And Lille is very close to Gent geographically. So I will be able to concentrate on the pitch.

What type of attacker are you?

I am not a player who plays as a pivot. I like to place myself between the lines. To make runs from deep. Receive the ball to feet, my back to the defence. I know what type of number nine that I am.

Do you know the French league?

I watch the matches, I know it quite well. But to speak at greater length about it, I will have to play there.

How are you going to respond if the Belgian board remains inflexible?

I would like for things to resolve themselves as quickly as possible. To get familiar with my teammates and the style of play that will be in place. I can be ready and adapt very quickly to put in good performances. Honestly, I do not think that there is a lot of respect on the part of my board. It would be quite logical for them to show some, because I arrived at Gent for free. The club didn’t pay a transfer fee. I gave everything that I had. Lille came with a very respectable offer when you consider the current health crisis. I do not understand these complications.

Why has agent Mogi Bayat entered the talks?

My agent brought the offer to Lille. I have heard it said that another agent was mandated by Gent to negotiate for them. I don’t understand. It is up to Gent to explain themselves. Me, I would now like things to advance.

Loïc Rémy fails medical with Benevento

Gianluca di Marzio reports this morning that 33-year-old French striker Loïc Rémy will not be joining newly promoted to Serie A side Benevento after failing complementary medical examinations, despite passing the first phase of a medical.

Rémy, who has been a free agent since his contract expired with Ligue 1 side Lille last month, had agreed to sign a 3-year contract with the Italian side, but the journalist in question asserts that the move is now definitively off.

Rémy played a key role for Lille in 2019/20, leading to the manager Christophe Galtier being furious about his departure.

Loïc Rémy has had heart irregularities show up in previous medicals, notably with Marseille in 2010 and OGC Nice in 2008, but on neither occasion did it prevent him from joining the Ligue 1 sides.

RMC Sport report that PSG attacker Kylian Mbappé underwent further examinations on his ankle this morning after last night’s Coupe de France final, where he sustained an injury after a tackle from St Étienne central defender Loïc Perrin.

The tests revealed that Mbappé had suffered a really considerable ankle twist and sprain, but not sustained ligament damage.

The player is out for next Friday’s Coupe de la Ligue final, and is a doubt to face Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Champions’ League.

Middlesbrough & Norwich make approaches for PSG defender Loïc Mbe Soh

L’Équipe report that 19-year-old central defender Loïc Mbe Soh is expected to leave PSG this summer, with 12 months remaining on his current contract.

He made one start in Ligue 1 in 2019/20 against Reims in the unnatural right-back position and has considerable interest from abroad.

Notably from newly promoted to La Liga side Cadiz, as well as relegated club RCD Mallorca, who have made approaches. In Britain, Norwich and Middlesbrough in the Championship have both approached PSG to enquire about their asking price for the player.

Bordeaux had also made their interest in the teenager known earlier this summer, with PSG having quoted a €5m asking price back to them. Mbe Soh was close to joining both Sochaux and Le Havre back in January.

Montpellier to land Jonas Omlin from FC Basel

Speaking to RMC Sport, Montpellier President Laurent Nicollin confirmed that the club is closing in a deal for 26-year-old Swiss international goalkeeper Jonas Omlin from FC Basel.

“We had a response from Basel yesterday evening. We sent a new offer this morning, we are not far from an agreement. Jonas wants to join us and we should very quickly find a solution. It should decant today. I hope that Jonas will be here as quickly as possible to pass his medical.”

Omlin is therefore poised not to participate in the Europa League with his club Basel, with match due to occur tomorrow with Frankfurt.

He could arrive at MHSC on Monday to undergo his medical.
