Rennes’s attacking midfielder and starlet Ousmane Dembélé has won the UNFP Player of the Month award for March.

Ousmane Dembélé walked away with 42% of the vote, with Marseille’s Steve Mandanda picking up 39% of it and Nice’s Hatem Ben Arfa winning 19%.

In March, Dembélé played three matches, scored four goals and nabbed two assists.

Speaking following PSG’s exit from the Champions League last night, captain and central defender Thiago Silva cast an uncertain picture over the future of the club.

“We have now been eliminated from the quarter finals four times. It is a shame. It is always like that, it hurts. We talk, we talk and still the same mistakes. It is difficult to have words. Many players are coming to the end of their contract. I do not know what is going to happen.”

Interim Lyon manager Bruno Génésio admitted tonight on BeIN Sports‘s Tribune Sports that he hopes to replicate Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal success with Les Gones.

“I would like to have an Arsène Wenger type of career at Lyon, that is for certain, to stay for 20 or 25 years at this club. It is the club that I love, the club the made me, the club where I grew up. I was born very near to the Gerland. I am aware of the uncertainty of the job. I think there are 13 managers who have not finished the Ligue 1 season… So obviously, I would like to have my entire career at Lyon, but it is the events that will decide all that.”

According to our colleagues at Goal France, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is closer than ever to the departure door this summer.

They report that the player has been taking intensive English lessons in recent weeks and that his girlfriend has all of a sudden stopped looking for a job in the Lyon area, possibly suggesting that the player is headed away from Lyon this summer, specifically to England and the Premier League.

L’Équipe reported this morning that Manchester United are regularly surveilling Lacazette’s performances and he remains on a list of potential summer targets for the Red Devils, but that West Ham United, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are the three sides in pole position at the moment for the French international.

It is understood that several offers have been made for the player by some or all of those three clubs since the January transfer window…

Newcastle United, should they remain in the Premier League, may also fancy another go for the player after being turned down on numerous occasions last January.

Speaking in an interview with Ouest France, Rennes’s attacking midfielder Ousmane Dembélé has confirmed that he knows where his next destination will be and that he has turned Leicester City down.

“Yes, I spoke to Claudio Ranieri on the phone. I was surprised to hear from him, I told him that I will not be going to Leicester. His French is not very good… Now, I am think about the club where I will be going. I hope to play in the Champions League. I know where I am going, that is for certain.”

FC Nantes are understood to have drawn out the contours of a two year contract for René Girard as they search for a manager to replace Michel der Zakarian next season.

They initially approached Lens boss Antoine Kombouaré, only to be rebuffed by the Frenchman who is hoping to experience management abroad.

Jocelyn Gourvennec and Philippe Montanier are also individuals to have been contacted, but after meeting with Girard last week, Nantes appear to be pressing on for the former Montpellier manager.

While Les Canaris have not officially presented him with a binding offer, they are optimistic that Girard will respond favourably to their latest overtures.

The ball is in Girard’s camp, unless Nantes can strum up a better alternative between now and then.

According to Foot 365, Turkish side Trabzonspor have formally approached Rennes defender Cheikh M’Bengue about a possible free transfer this summer.

The former Toulouse left-back will be a free agent next month when his contract expires with SRFC.

According to AS, PSG have informed striker Alvaro Morata that they are willing to double his current wage at Juventus.

Real Madrid plan to buy the player back by exercising a €30m clause in their agreement with La Vielle Dame.

RMCF will then look to sell the player on to the highest bidder. Arsenal have also fed the Morata camp a similar line to PSG concerning wages, according to the report.

The player is understood to prefer a move to the Premier League.
