Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co., Ltd., the parent company of the Toyo Ink Group, has announced that it has resolved to change its trade name to Artience Co., Ltd. effective January 1, 2024.

According to a press statement, “Artience” is a fusion of the words “art” and “science,” with “art” expressing the stimulation of the five senses and the mind, including the application of colour as well as a liberal arts perspective; “science” represents the application of technology, materials and a rational approach to discovery.

Starting out as a printing ink manufacturer

Headquartered in Tokyo, Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co., Ltd., the parent company of the Toyo Ink Group, is a scientific company with specialty chemicals at its core. Originally starting out as a printing ink manufacturer in 1896, the company is a developer and marketer of its own specialty chemical materials based on functional pigments and polymers.

Talks between Aston Villa and former Lyon manager Remi Garde are due to continue today concerning the vacant managerial position.

The Frenchman as supposed to commentate on the Manchester derby yesterday afternoon for his current employers Canal +, but talks between Garde and Aston Villa prevented him from doing so, according to L’Équipe.

Aston Villa announced the departure of Tim Sherwood at around lunchtime yesterday, but the Villains had been looking for potential replacements long before that point, having already contacted Brendan Rodgers, David Moyes and Remi Garde before Sherwood’s sacking.

Since leaving Lyon in 2014, Remi Garde has rejected several offers, including jobs at Newcastle and very recently at Sunderland. The biggest challenge that Garde faces is ensuring that he can bring and much of his favoured coaching staff with him at such short notice.

Bruno Genesio is somebody that Garde played with at Lyon and was his assistant manager during his spell on OL’s touchline, but Genesio stayed on at Lyon when Garde left and is currently part of Hubert Fournier’s coaching staff. Genesio is vital to Garde’s setup but Lyon are perhaps unlikely to let him leave his current position.

Gérard Baticle and Robert Duverne are the other two individuals that Garde most wants in his potential coaching staff at Aston Villa, but the former is currently employed by Lyon still and Duverne is under contract with Metz.

Duverne of course has already worked for Aston Villa under the orders of Gérard Houllier, between September 2010 and June 2011.

For Aston Villa, Remi Garde has become a priority because Arsène Wenger has pushed them to go for the former Lyon manager. Wenger has reportedly encouraged Chief Executive Tom Fox and Sporting Director Hendrik Almstadt to appoint Garde, the latter individual of course being a former employee at Arsenal.

If Garde decides to accept the Aston Villa challenge, which will surely depend on how much of his coaching staff he can pull together at such short notice, then he will have a rich array of French/Ligue 1 talent at his disposal. Garde is very much considered by Arsène Wenger as a possible replacement for him at Arsenal, but Remi Garde must prove his credentials in the Premier League first.

Mino Raiola revealed to French radio station RMC that Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told him that he would let Romelu Lukaku go for a fair price.

Raiola had the following to say on the subject:

“Lukaku to PSG? We had a discussion with Martinez, he said he would let him leave Everton if a good offer comes in. But talking about the transfer window now makes no sense.”

Strategic expansion of the portfolio

The strategic expansion of the portfolio, especially in the product areas shock absorbers, gas springs, axles, drive shafts, windscreen wipers and other components is thus not only ensured but further expanded through the global sales network of Weilburger Coatings.

The chemical company Wacker has succeeded in capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) produced during the production of silicon. The project was implemented using the technology and expertise of the Norwegian joint venture of SLB and Aker Carbon Capture in Norway.

At its production site in Holla, Norway, Wacker has tested a process for capturing CO2. At this location, the company produces silicon from quartz and carbon, a process that generates CO2 emissions. The tested capture process makes it possible to utilize or store the CO2 rather than releasing it into the atmosphere.

The CO2 capture technology was provided by a joint venture between SLB and Aker Carbon Capture (ACC), which specializes in capturing CO2 from industrial emissions, including so-called “unavoidable” emissions, such as those from raw silicon production. A mobile test unit (MTU) from the joint venture was installed at Wacker’s Holla site. This pilot plant directed the emissions from silicon production into a chemical CO2 capture process known as amine scrubbing. In this process, a liquid containing amine extracts CO2 from the gas mixture. In a full-scale industrial process, the CO2 would then be separated from the liquid, liquefied, and purified.

The test phase concluded successfully at the end of June, achieving capture rates of over 95%. Additionally, the process parameters were thoroughly examined and validated. Concurrently, an engineering feasibility study was conducted, outlining a facility designed to capture 180,000 tons of CO2 annually. These calculations were refined using data from the practical tests. Wacker’s CEO, Christian Hartel, described the pilot study’s results as a significant success, demonstrating the technology’s ability to effectively capture CO2.

DIC Corporation announces that last month it acquired certification under ISCC PLUS for a product manufactured by subsidiary DIC Epoxy (Malaysia) ISCC PLUS is an international certification scheme for sustainable products.

Additionally, the use of mass balance bio-allocated raw materials is expected to reduce the DIC Group’s largest product carbon footprint by 19.4%, compared with conventional products that use fossil-derived raw materials. Going forward, in tandem with its Group companies that operate in more than 60 countries, DIC wants to continue working to help drive sustainable development.

ISCC PLUS is a voluntary scheme that attests to the proper management of recycled and biomass-derived raw materials across the supply chain, including in production processes. This certification facilitates the use of raw materials to which the mass balance approach has been applied.
