Montpellier President Laurent Nicollin frustrated at Dinamo Zagreb over Dominik Livaković

Speaking to Yahoo Sport FR, Montpellier President Laurent Nicollin announced the club’s decision to abandon a deal for 24-year-old Croatian international goalkeeper Dominik Livaković, despite having agreed a fee with his club Dinamo Zagreb.

“We are not waiting until 25th August. We have an agreement over a fee. But the player has not been authorised to travel to us for his medical and to sign. We are going to go after someone else. We cannot wait for him to play another round of Champions’ League games, next week and then the week after. We have other options. The first one who can come is the one we will take.”

MHSC were set to break their transfer record with Livaković, having agreed a deal worth around €9.5m.

Ramy Bensebaini delaying a €10m move to Gladbach

Foot Mercato report that Bundesliga side Gladbach have made a €10m offer to Rennes to sign Algerian international defender Ramy Bensebaini.

He only has 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Brittany side and has reached a point of reflection in his career. Sevilla are also understood to have made a proposal but it did not satisfy Rennes President Olivier Létang.

The salary on offer from Gladbach is interesting the player, but Bensebaini is delaying in the hope that an even bigger club comes in with a proposal.

The Algerian does not rule out the possibility of staying and running his contract down.

Exclusive | Burnley have opened talks for Stéphane Bahoken

Sources tell Get French Football News that Premier League side Burnley have in recent hours opened discussions with the relevant parties over the possible transfer of Cameroonian centre-forward Stéphane Bahoken.

The player has been told by Angers that he can leave the club this summer if an acceptable proposal is made, with the ex-Strasbourg man also having been on Wolves & Leicester’s summer shortlists, although admittedly considerably low down on them.

It is understood that talks with Burnley are not currently at an advanced stage.

Thiago Silva on Neymar’s future: “I cannot handle this anymore.”

Speaking in an interview with RMC, Brazilian central defender Thiago Silva discussed the ongoing suspense surrounding PSG team-mate Neymar’s future.

“Neymar is an indispensable player for any team. He was at Barça, now he is ours. This is a specific problem between the player and the club. We cannot get involved. In my head, I hope that he stays. Yes that is what I have said to him already. It is difficult to say to him all the time: “You stay, you stay…” I do not know exactly what is going on between him and the club. I honestly hope that the window is almost over because I cannot handle this anymore.”

On fan anger at Neymar:

It is difficult to speak about this situation. The supporters can think of something in one way. But they think a lot with their heart. I believe that if Neymar comes back and starts to help the club and plays like he did last year, at the end of the season, we are all going to be happy, especially the fans. That is why I say that he must stay. He can still help us a lot. If he leaves, it will be difficult for us. He would go and strengthen a team that has the same aim as us. For me, that is not good.

Lille President Gérard Lopez picks Ajax as favourites in their Champions’ League group

Click:block manufacturing machine

Speaking to reporters yesterday following the Champions’ League Group Stage draw, Lille President Gérard Lopez reacted to his club being drawn with Chelsea, Valencia and Ajax.

“It is a wonderful group. It suits me very well. We are playing the Europa League winners, Chelsea, Ajax, who had a great Champions’ League campaign last season, and Valencia, a club that is always fighting at the top of La Liga. But these away matches aren’t far away. That suits me. It allows us to recover a little better. I saw that we had the smallest coefficient in the competition. I like this title. We have to do what we know to do, play like we know how to play. We can cause problems to a fair few teams if we do that. Aside from that, we will see. I was happy to hear two big clubs that I know well say to me that we were the team to avoid in the 4th pot, despite us being so small… A favourite? Ajax! But certainly not us.”

AS Monaco continue to negotiate for Tiémoué Bakayoko (Chelsea) & Franck Kessié (AC Milan)

RMC report that Ligue 1 side AS Monaco continue to negotiate with two central midfield targets, as they seek to get one more through the door before the summer transfer window shuts next week.

The priority target is 22-year-old AC Milan central midfielder Franck Kessié – the problem is not so much the Italian club, who are quite inclined to let him leave for around €25m, but the player, who is making enormous salary demands that could prove too much for the Principality side.

Talks for the loan of Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko are in the meantime continuing, as the Premier League side seem to have relaxed their position in recent hours. Initially, CFC were not keen to send Bakayoko to Monaco and had been holding out for a team playing European football to pick him up for 12 months, where he would receive more market exposure to eventually sell him next summer. Options seem to be very limited in terms of destinations, thus why Chelsea are now willing to sanction the move.
